Biennial 2012
First Impressions
We've lived with the 2012 Biennial for just over a week now.
And, we've been out and about to see what there is to see and, naturally, taking photos of the exhibits. For that is what we do.
There is not much in the way of the big "Wow" pieces that were on show in 2010 - this Biennial, whilst the biggest yet in terms of the number of artists on display, seems to be more subtle than some of the earlier ones.
Two new venues - Copperas Hill Sorting Office and the Cunard Building provide rich pickings for shots, but there is a thought that the scale of those buildings swamp the art on display. This is a Biennial that needs to bed in and will hopefully develop over the next few weeks.
The Independents Biennial is well worth the time spent as well; there are some real gems to be found.
